Ornate carpentry, stonewalled farmsteads and bathing lakes – the Värnamo area gives you the best of Småland. For a close to nature experience, rent a bicycle. Here you can get some good suggestions for tours, and the tourist office can help you with cycle maps.
Näsuddenrundan, 18 km
A very easy ride over open landscape from Värnamo to the Lake Hindsen. The Näsudden cape has one of Värnamo’s best bathing sites.
Åminnerundan, 18 km
An easy ride that passes Sörsjö’s horse pastures, before becoming a narrow, winding road through the woods to Åminne. The Åminne ironworks museum shows how pig iron was made from bog iron ore from Lake Vidöstern. The whole way from Örtebro to Värnamo is gorgeous.
Drömmingerundan, 22 km
A mostly easy ride that passes the Drömminge grave field and the cosy little village of the same name. The gravel road from Voxtorp to Lake Vidöstern can be rocky. From Hjälshammar to Värnamo is a glorious view of Lake Vidöstern and the open fields alongside it.
Björnakullerundan, 26 km
A fairly demanding and varied ride with great differences in height. You pass Maramö, nestled in a lovely valley. At the top of Björnakullen is a lay-by with an exquisite view of the Store Mosse national park. You’ll also pass the great bathing site on Lake Nästasjön.
Järnbruksleden, 40 km
The ride starts with a steep uphill slope towards Alandsryd. The rest is an easy ride. On the road from Kärda to Old Åminne, you pass an old cultural landscape with mighty oaks. The ruins of the ironworks are worth an extra stop, as is the nature reserve just beyond it. Another sight is the old cemetery in Hånger. Between Sjöboda and Värnamo are beautiful views of Lake Vidöstern.
