Address: Nydala, 570 03 Vrigstad
Nydala was founded in 1143, and was one of the first Cistercian monasteries in Scandinavia. Those who lived and worked here for 400 years were French Cistercian monks, and several pilgrimage trails converge on Nydala.
Today you can visit the monastery church, the gate chapel, the beautiful ruins and the monastery garden designed in a mediaeval style.
Use the audio guides that are available on location to learn more about the fantastic history. During the summer guided tours, chronicles, mediaeval weekends and hikes on the pilgrim paths are arranged. Guided tours in the monastery church and monastery garden can be booked at any time of the year.
