Address: Tånnögatan 17, 33130 Värnamo
Bruno Mathsson, one of Sweden's internationally best-known furniture designers, was originally from Värnamo. Next to the park Apladalen stands Bruno Mathsson International, a centre featuring Mathsson’s parental home and his first glass building, his office, his studio, and much of his fantastic furniture, including the classics “Pernilla” and “Miranda”.
Bruno Mathsson realized in the 1930s that new times require new ways of sitting. His functional approach to sitting, working and socializing eventually took the world by storm. Bruno Mathsson also designed houses, among other things the renowned glass buildings. The experimental house that Mathsson had built in 1945 was re-erected in 2013 and can be seen at the Bruno Mathsson Center.
