This churchyard, with its rich history, is located in beautiul surroundings south of Värnamo, among iron-age grave fields.

There has been wooden churches here since the 12th century, the last one was taken down in 1882. The current stone church was finished in 1881.

The cemetery existed long before the village of Hånger and it is believed that people from the old settlements around Vidöstern have had their resting place here. Thankfully there were and still are people interested in this historical place therefore some items were rescued and consigned to the Historical Museum in Stockholm and the County Board in Jönköping.
Among these items a crucifix was found and a church sturgeon that was returned in 2003 which today exists in the new church. A very old baptismal font is also placed in the church. Between stave church and the one mentioned there's also been another church that burned down.
